Chris and his sister Carine McCandless had a very close relationship, even when he struggled to connect with others. Write about a relationship in your life where you feel truly understood. Explain what makes that relationship strong and how it compares to the connection between Chris and Carine in Into the Wild.

I have a best friend who really understands me. We can talk about anything without judgment. They often know how I feel without me saying it. We trust each other and are always honest. We have shared many experiences that make our bond strong. This makes our relationship feel safe and supportive. It is similar to Chris and Carine because we deeply understand each other. I feel comfortable being myself around them. Summary:Read chapter 13 of into the wild Reflection:learned how to answer questions while reading a book

Connection Question

An experience where I felt confident in my abilities was during a math test. I did not study before the test because I was overconfident. I believed I already knew all the material. When I started the test, some questions were harder than I expected. I realized that my confidence did not match my preparation. After that experience, I learned that it is important to study even when I feel confident. Summary:Read more of Into the wild Reflection:Learned how to answer questions that correspond to the book.
As I got older I started to see my family as real people instead of just parents. I realized they had struggles and made mistakes just like anyone else. This changed how I felt because I became more understanding and less judgmental. It made me appreciate them more but also question some of their choices. In Into the Wild Chris has a similar realization about his parents. He learns things about them that change how he sees them and affects his decisions.  Summary:read chapter 11 of into the wild Reflection:Learned how diffrent people have diffrent backgrounds

Prompt: Reflect on your reading of Into the Wild chapters 1–10. Which chapter stood out to you the most, and why? In your response, explain what specifically made this chapter meaningful, interesting, or impactful. You may consider elements such as McCandless’s actions, a key event, a theme, or Krakauer’s storytelling.

I loved chapter 1 it immersed me in the story and got me hooked. This chapter intoduced all the charchters and what was going on with the story. I also liked how it introduced important characters and gave a glimpse of Chris McCandless’s journey. The way author described the setting and events made everything feel real and interesting. It was impactful because it set the tone for the rest of the book and made the story feel serious and meaningful. Overall, Chapter 1 hooked my attention and made me excited to learn more about McCandless and his choices. Summary:Took a test Reflection:Learned how to answer questions regarding the book.

Prompt: Chris chooses independence over relationships. When have you chosen to be on your own instead of relying on others? What happened, and would you make the same choice again?

One time I chose to handle a big school assignment on my own instead of asking for help. It was stressful and took a lot of time. I struggled at first but figured things out by myself. In the end I felt proud of what I did. I learned that being independent is good but not always easy. I would still do it again but I would ask for help if I needed it. I also realized that doing everything alone can be overwhelming. Next time I would try to balance independence with getting support when needed. Prompt: Chris McCandless rejects a traditional path of success and instead defines success on his own terms through freedom, experience, and personal meaning. Reflect on what success means to you at your current stage in life. In the response, explain how success is currently defined (grades, college acceptance, achievements, happiness, etc.) and where those ideas come from. Then, consider whether that definition truly reflects personal values or if it is shaped by expectations from family, school, or society.

Success for me right now means getting good grades and getting into a good college. It also means doing well in activities like sports and tests like the SAT. These ideas mostly come from my family, school, and what society expects. Sometimes I feel like success is more about meeting those expectations than what I really want. I think real success should also include being happy and enjoying life. I am still figuring out what success truly means for me. Choose a vocabulary word from Lesson 10 that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word. image.png

I was not in class for Lesson 10, but a vocabulary word that resonates with me is **resilient**. I saw this word in a passage while taking the SAT this weekend. Resilient means being able to stay strong and keep going when things are difficult. Studying for the SAT was challenging and sometimes stressful. I had to keep practicing even when the questions were hard. This word reminds me to keep trying and not give up on my goals. Summary:absent reflection:absent

For most of you, yesterday you took the SAT. If you did not, you will take it before you leave high school. What is your desired SAT score? Identify your top three colleges and explain why each school appeals to you.

My desired SAT score is 1500 or above. My top three colleges are the University of Georgia UGA, Georgia Tech, and the University of Alabama. I like UGA because it has strong programs in business and other areas I’m interested in. Georgia Tech appeals to me because of its excellent engineering and technology programs. I also like the University of Alabama for its competitive academics and strong sports culture. These schools each offer opportunities for me to grow academically and personally while preparing for my future career.  Summary:Read more of the book Reflection:I learend how to draw based on what I saw in the book

Prompt: Twice a year we adjust our clocks for daylight saving time, but the change can affect our sleep, energy, and daily routines. Now that we have sprung forward; reflect on how this time change impacts you personally. Do you find it easy or difficult to adjust your schedule? Explain how the time change affects your mood, productivity, or daily habits.

The time change this spring makes it a little hard for me to wake up early. I feel more tired in the mornings for the first few days. My mood can be a bit grumpy until I adjust. I notice my productivity is lower at the start of the week. It also affects when I eat and go to bed. After a few days, my body gets used to the new schedule. Prompt: In Chapter 5 of Into the Wild, McCandless is strongly influenced by writers like Jack London, whose stories shape the way he thinks about adventure and wilderness. Has a book, song, musician, or artist ever influenced the way you think about life, goals, or the world around you? Identify the specific book, song, musician, or artist and explain how their ideas or message affected your thinking.

A song that influenced the way I think about life is Check by Young Thug. The song talks about confidence and believing in yourself. It made me think about working hard for my goals. It also shows that success can come from staying focused and not listening to doubt. The message helped me think about being more confident in what I want to do. It reminds me to keep pushing forward and trust myself. Summary:Read chapter 5 of into the wild Reflection:Learned how to answer questions using the text

Prompt: In Into the Wild, Christopher McCandless gives up many of his possessions in pursuit of freedom and meaningful experiences. If you had to simplify your life and keep only a few important possessions, what would you keep and why? What would be hardest to leave behind?

If I had to simplify my life and keep only a few possessions I would keep things that matter the most to me. I would keep my phone so I could stay in contact with my family and friends. I would also keep a few clothes and maybe a soccer ball because soccer is a big part of my life. These things would help me stay connected and keep doing something I enjoy. The hardest thing to leave behind would be other personal items and things that remind me of memories with people. It would be difficult because those things have meaning and are part of my life. Prompt: People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Describe a time when you needed distance from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective. What did that experience teach you about yourself?

One time I stepped away from a habit in my routine which was biting my nails. I noticed I was doing it without thinking especially when I was stressed or bored. I decided to focus on stopping the habit and being more aware of when I did it. It was difficult at first but I slowly got better at controlling it. This experience taught me that I have more self control than I thought. It also showed me that changing small habits can help me grow and feel more confident. Prompt: After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild my first impression of Christopher McCandless was that he was confident but unprepared. I do not think he fully understood the risks of entering the Alaskan wilderness. He seemed determined to live independently and prove he could survive on his own. However he did not bring enough supplies or proper equipment. This shows he may have underestimated how dangerous Alaska could be. Summary:Read a book with the class Reflection:learned what alaska is like

Prompt: Today you worked on creating your Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express. In one well-developed paragraph, reflect on the assignment by explaining which vocabulary word was easiest for you to understand, which word was most challenging, and how creating your own sentence and selecting an image helped strengthen your understanding of the vocabulary. Use specific examples from your work.

Creating my Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express helped me understand the words better. The easiest word for me to understand was toady. A toady is someone who acts overly nice to someone important to gain favor. The hardest part was using the word correctly in my own sentence. I wrote a sentence about a student agreeing with a coach just to get more playing time. Picking an image of someone flattering a leader helped me remember the meaning more clearly.
